About Us Minimize

Community of the Savior is a gathering of people who yearn to drink deeply from the rich diversity of various streams of historic faith. We are deeply committed to the good news of the Christian gospel. We seek to live as a community nurtured by the rhythms of the Christian year. We strive to model biblical equality through co-gendered leadership. We care about social justice.

Please take a look at our core affirmations. If you find yourself drawn to what you see, let that be your cordial invitation to visit Community of the Savior!

Epiphany 4, 10:00 a.m.
January 29, 2012
This Sunday’s readings are Deuteronomy 18:15-20, Psalm 95, 1 Corinthians 8:1-13, and Mark 1:21-28. In the Old Testament reading, Moses gives instructions regarding prophets in the community. The passage from 1 Corinthians has an explanation of whether or not is right to eat meat sacrificed to idols. It should be considered, however, as a springboard for a conversation on ethical conduct between members of the community. The gospel reading shows us a picture of Jesus entering the synagogue and teaching. This action, at this point in his life, was impressing to people. While at the synagogue he also cast out an unclean spirit, furthering his popularity. Pastor Doug Cullum preaches, and Pastor Barb Bushart presides at Table.
