  • JOE BLAKELY

    1. How long have you attended Edgewood? What areas of worship or service have you participated in previously or currently?

I started attending regularly in 2009 after relocating into the city. Before coming to Edgewood I was a member at Pearce Memorial. I became a member at Edgewood in 2010. I have been in two small groups, attended men’s breakfasts, matured in my walk, and hopefully I’ve helped others in their walk. I also volunteer one Sunday a month in the Sprouts nursery. I always leave that service with a grateful joy.

    2. What do you like about Edgewood?  What made you choose Edgewood for your church home?
It was easy for me to connect with the pastors, but I must say it was the welcoming congregation that confirmed that I wanted to be part of this church family. I am so blessed to be at EFMC.

    3. What do you do for a living?
I support the computer manufacturing systems at ON Semiconductor on Lake Ave. We are a former division of Kodak that have remained a viable business in the image sensor market.

    4. What areas of interest and service are you involved with outside of Edgewood?
My wife and I are in our 8th year of volunteering at Isaiah House, a hospice home in the city. It is a truly amazing place, with a caring director and wonderful care givers. I also volunteered with Good News Jail and Prison Ministry from 2010-2016.

    5. What do you see as your spiritual gifts?
I love to share my understanding of Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, but I love to be educated by others as well. I like to drop “God” or “Jesus” references in all kinds of conversations and see where the Holy Spirit will take them.

    6. What is your vision for Edgewood in the next few years?
Edgewood is really ready to launch. Let’s go! Let’s help people know Jesus and grow in their commitment to Him. We are His hands and feet. Let’s build His kingdom.

  • ELIZABETH BROWN

1.How long have you attended Edgewood? What areas of worship or service have you participated in previously or currently?
I have attended Edgewood for 15 years.  My husband Greg and I worship at the 9am service and have been co leaders for a community group for the last three years. I have been involved in Higher Grounds, teaching adult Sunday School, and playing on the softball team. Most recently I have been involved in Children’s ministries including the nursery, Vacation Bible School, and the Greenhouse.

    2. What do you like about Edgewood?  What made you choose Edgewood for your church home?
The Pathseekers ministry was our first connection to Edgewood. The relationships we formed there continue to be a part of our lives. While I valued the strong Biblical teaching, the welcoming community of believers really drew us to call Edgewood our church. I love Edgewood’s passion for missions, both here in our own community as well as supporting the Set Free Movement and the Galloways. It is important to me that I am part of a church that supports women as pastors and leaders.

    3. What do you do for a living?
I am a faculty family physician at Highland Family Medicine, serving a diverse largely under served patient population and continue to do maternity care.  I teach medical students and residents at the U of R.

    4. What areas of interest and service are you involved with outside of Edgewood?
Spending time with my husband and kids is my main area of interest.  I volunteer in their classrooms and helped coach Little League softball.

    5. What do you see as your spiritual gifts?
    Mercy, hospitality, and service.

    6. What is your vision for Edgewood in the next few years?
My desire is that we will continue to follow God’s guiding as to how we will serve our community. I see Edgewood remaining a place where visitors are welcomed and people are encouraged to either begin a journey with Jesus or challenged as they continue to grow and serve Him.  I am excited to see the Healthy Harvest ministry continue to grow.

  • LISA CLEMONS

    1. How long have you attended Edgewood? What areas of worship or service have you participated in previously or currently?                            As a teen, a friend introduced me to Edgewood's amazing youth program. I continued to stay connected to Edgewood later by attending a community group.  11 years ago, Rob and I made the decision to worship on Sundays with the same people we were fellowshipping with during the week. I have volunteered in children's ministries for many years.  Currently,  I am on the Leadership Board, a member of a community group, serve in the Greenhouse, as an usher, and volunteer for VBS.

    2. What do you like about Edgewood?  What made you choose Edgewood for your church home?
The people are what make us, feel at home at Edgewood. I love that it is a place that meets the needs of people wherever they are at. Edgewood's children's ministries is a blessing to serve in.  Now that I have kids, it is a valuable asset in helping me teach my own children to love Jesus.

    3. What do you do for a living?
I have been a teacher in the Wayne Central School District since 2005.

    4. What areas of interest and service are you involved with outside of Edgewood?
My favorite way to spend my spare time is with my family. I volunteer for activities at my kids school. I love taking my kids swimming, on a bike ride, or paddle boarding. During my “me” minutes I like to go running.

    5. What do you see as your spiritual gifts?
Teaching children, and a willingness to serve people's needs in a variety of ways: meals, supplies, or lending a hand with a job.

    6. What is your vision for Edgewood in the next few years?
As we move forward with our relocation, I see us continuing to be firmly rooted in scripture and listening to the Holy Spirit for guidance. Our new facility can help us expand the fantastic programs already in place within our church in our new neighborhood, with school 19,  within our city, and beyond. Colossians 2:7 “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught and overflow with thankfulness.”

    2. What do you like about Edgewood?  What made you choose Edgewood for your church home?
Edgewood is a community of caring people. Our family has found a genuine Christian community in this church. Besides being Christ centered, we also love the fact that preaching at Edgewood is intellectually challenging and outreach focused. I love Edgewood’s passion for the lost. Evidence for this is our commitment to missions and giving.

    5. What do you see as your spiritual gifts?
I feel that I have been called to leadership. Not in the sense of being the person in charge, but rather being the person who rolls up my sleeves and does whatever is needed to help the church fulfill its mission, which is to introduce people to Jesus.  I find myself listening and waiting before the Lord for his direction for our church.

    6. What is your vision for Edgewood in the next few years?
I would like to see EFMC continue in its journey of local ministry. I am especially excited about Edgewood’s involvement with school 19 in the city. Healthy Harvest is a great example of growing engagement of our community. I also look forward to the transition to the YMCA facility in Pittsford as a means of EFMC further fulfilling the great commission.

Edgewood is a community of people who have a sincere desire to know Jesus Christ. My wife Karen started attending Edgewood before me. It was during a time when we were struggling in our marriage. I believe it is in being there for people. God calls us to do many things and at different stations of life this will change. But my biggest prayer is knowing there is nothing I can do for Christ, I can only do things with Him.

    6. What is your vision for Edgewood in the next few years?
To ask as a community of believers, are we enabling people to Know Jesus better? To walk with an awareness of God’s presence in our steps in relocation, tutoring, small groups, and Sunday services. Doing this through prayer & becoming a better listener to God’s leading. I believe we need to continue to improve our outreach to our friends and neighbors in our immediate communities and Greater Rochester.
